VAMSA Executive Director Eric Johnson reported that the Alliance raised close to
$100,000 of the total of $300,000 we need for FY24. The late-breaking funding
commitments were reported as follows:
$50,000 - Queen Anne's County Commissioners (Capital allocation)
$5,000 - Walt Petrie (2nd year gift)
$5,000 - Wes Guckert (2nd Year Gift)
$2,000 - Joe Candella (2nd Year Gift; Visioning Session Expenses)
$5,000 - Kent Island American Legion Post 278
$6,000 - Centreville American Legion Post 18
$10,000 - Grasonville VFW Post 7464 (1st $5K gift of 2 just received)
$500 - Anonymous
$1,000 - Eric Johnson (2nd Year Gift)
$5,000 - Commitment to Host Summer 2023 Legion Fundraiser (target is estimated)
Eric noted that VAMSA hoped it would be able to announce at the April 22 Vietnam
Memorial Dedication event (on April 22) that we were well on our way in our capital
campaign during our silent phase.
With these funding commitments, “we are now able to say with integrity that we are almost one-third of the way toward our goal,” said Eric. “As shared at the last monthly Alliance meeting our hope is that we can get the majority, if not all, of the Alliance to donate something (no amount too small!).”
