Vally MinkThe Vienna Werksttte Rug Collection honours the early 20th century alliance of artists and designers, known as Wiener Werksttte, who sought to eliminate the boundary between craft and fine art through well designed and functional objects. This novel reveals a little-known part of Kansas City’s past—in the 1930s it was running a brisk dragon hatching, renting and sales business! Fast forward 80 or 90 years after the operation was shut down by the city—and be amazed! A suburban family with four boys moves into a 100-year old house in Crossroads of KC and into the adventure of their lives. Add a talking lizard and a trash-talking wizard out of the past, and you have a tale funny, terrifying, and thought-provoking all at once. I hope to see this in every bookstore window in Kansas City!

This is a companion novel to “Miss Quinces” So I had high hopes for enjoying this graphic novel by Kat Fajardo. Those hopes were thankfully met as I really enjoyed my time reading. So much so I binged this book in one day, which is hard to do with an infant. It’s making me want to reread “Miss Quinces” so I can stay in Suyapa’s world a little longer.
